We are developing #TessaHikes with the international organization Hike It Baby!
Hike it Baby is a new parents group in over 150 cities around the country dedicated to getting families together and out into nature with newborns and little ones. We have a wide variety of hikes and urban strolls and the best part is all of our hikes are FREE! Hikes are led by volunteers, therefore we ask that you please sign our waiver and come join us. We welcome everyone from mom, dad, partner, granny to nanny to friend. How: Pick your age group below to learn more! When: Our first hikes are at two locations near Portland in March 2016! |
For BabiesA hike leader will hide a printable image of Tessa in the woods in a somewhat obvious and easy-to-find location. Participants will go looking for Tessa in a game of hide-and-seek. As they point out where Tessa is hiding, they can introduce babies and small ones to other natural words.
Our printable image is forthcoming! |
For Big KidsChildren and caregivers will be invited to gather a handful of similar objects on their short hikes. Upon returning, they can create their own patterns using the objects. This activity requires a setting where children can legally gather objects (sticks, stones, leaves pieces of moss) and a flat ground where they can lay them out afterwards. This activity is very social-media friendly since caregivers can post images afterwards of what the kids make (#tessahikes).
